UK Workshops at Springwood Sanctuary Summer 2017

This is a one time opportunity to combine learning Mindfulness with Animals along with learning about wild Medicinal Herbs.

The entire day is spent outdoors at Springwood Sanctuary in it's lush meadows and ancient woodlands and among the herd of horses that live here.

We will spend the morning learning about the wild medicinal plants growing in abudance all around us at Springwood with Herbalist Amanda Howe. You will learn how to use these plants as a wonderful source of healing for yourself, your family, dogs and horses. Many of the plants we think of as weeds growing in the meadows and hedgerows are actually wonderfully healing medicinal plants. Nettles are nutritious and blood cleansing, Plantain is a wound healer, Meadowsweet is pain relieving and anti-inflammatory..... come and learn about these and many more herbs growing wild in the fields and woodland at Springwood Sanctuary. This is a wonderful way to deepen our appreciation of wild medicinal plants and gather wisdom about the power they have to heal us and our animal friends.
You will learn how to identify, attune to, sustainably and ethically harvest and call upon wild medicinal plants for healing.

In the afternoon Jacqui Howe will lead us in a connection with the herd of horses, using mindful regard and an awareness of our intuitive selves. No previous horse experience is necessary, as one-to-one time with Jacqui will ensure that your needs are met and regarded at all times. As with all activities at Springwood Sanctuary, the horses are not ridden and are fully regarded and at complete liberty.

Herbalist Amanda Howe brings 30 years of experience as a Herbalist and teacher and has a passion for wild plants both on Vancouver Island where she now lives, here in England where she grew up and in the Himalayas where she has also spent time in the mountains. This hands-on Medicine Making course teaches you how to make your own herbal remedies for your family and for your animals friends.

This workshop is practical hands-on learning and lots of fun. And you get to take home some of the remedies you make in the class! You will learn how to make syrups - from scratch using fresh herbs straight from the garden.
You will make oils and healing salves for all those cuts, scrapes and bruises that we seem to encounter in life - fantastic for gardeners, and Mums of adventurous children, and anyone with horses or dogs!
We make Lip balms with soothing and non-toxic ingredients.
You'll also learn how to make poultices and fomentations which are healing and pain relieving for sprains and inflammed joints - great for people and horses!
You learn what goes into making high quality infusions and decoctions and herbal extracts for you, your horses and dogs.
